Borrowing and Renewal Policies

Anoka County Library and Columbia Heights Public Library card holders may check out  eBooks and eAudiobooks from OverDrive.  Due to subscription agreements, other library system library barcodes will not be recognized.

Registered cards from other MELSA libraries may check out eBooks from the 3M Cloud Library.

A PIN is also required for checkout.

Customers are allowed to have 10 items checked out at a time in both OverDrive and the 3M Cloud Library.

In OverDrive, at the time of check out, customers may choose to keep a title for 7, 14, or 21 days.  3M Cloud Library eBooks check out for 21 days.

If a title is checked out, a request for the title may be placed.

Customers are allowed to have 10 items on request at a time.

An email address is required to place a request. Notification that a request is available for check out is sent to this
email address.

After notification, available requested items are held for 3 days. After that time, the request moves to the next
person on the hold list.

It is possible to return eBooks early.

Customers must pay their fines down below $10, in order to be able to check out titles. (This matches our print
material fine policy).

Titles in OverDrive may be renewed once 3 days before the checkout period ends if there are no requests waiting for the title.  Titles in 3M Cloud Library cannot be renewed, but as soon as the lending period expires, if no one else has requested the title, it may be checked out again.

Note: eBooks and eAudiobooks cannot be downloaded to the library’s publicly used computers.
